The STBDDI3230 is an integral component of the Modicon STB distributed I/O solution series, specifically designed to facilitate digital inputs for automated systems. This standard digital input module can manage two discrete inputs, operating at a nominal 24 V DC, making it a versatile choice for various industrial applications.
Each input accepts a voltage range of 11 to 30 V DC to be recognized in state 1, and -3 to 5 V DC for state 0, allowing for flexibility in signal levels. The module is designed to handle a permissible voltage of up to 30 V and can withstand an absolute maximum voltage of 56 V for brief periods (1.3 ms), ensuring durability against voltage spikes. Discrete input currents are modest, requiring 7.5 mA, with state 0 guaranteed to be less than or equal to 2 mA, and state 1 guaranteed to be greater than or equal to 6 mA.
The STBDDI3230 module offers the flexibility of positive or negative logic, catering to various sensor types and configurations. The response times are swift, with off-to-on and on-to-off transitions occurring in approximately 0.61 ms and 0.625 ms, respectively, ensuring timely system reactions to input changes.
Protection features include an integrated fuse for power protection, resistor-limited input protection, reverse polarity protection, and an impressive 2000 V insulation between channels and logic bus for one minute. Such measures extend the module’s lifespan and maintain system integrity under potential fault conditions.
Both cold and hot swapping capabilities are supported, the latter being specific to standard Network Interface Modules (NIMs), facilitating ease of maintenance and module replacement without system downtime. Input filtering is customizable with multiple options ranging from 0.5 ms to 16 ms, allowing for signal stabilization and noise reduction.
The STBDDI3230 is compatible with the STBPDT3100/3105 power distribution modules and STBXBA1000 I/O base. It requires a power supply voltage rated at 24 V DC and has a current consumption of 55 mA at 5 V DC for the logic bus.
Status monitoring is straightforward with a green LED indicating module readiness, green LEDs showing individual channel status, and a red LED alerting to module errors. The module's dimensions are compact, with a depth of 65.1 mm, a height of 18.4 mm, and a width of 125 mm, while weighing in at a mere 0.11 kg.
The STBDDI3230 adheres to EN/IEC 61131-2 type 2 standards, ensuring reliable operation. It holds product certifications from CSA, FM Class 1 Division 2, and UL, marking it safe for use in specified hazardous environments. It operates effectively up to an altitude of 2000 meters and boasts an IP20 degree of protection, signifying its capability to perform in dusty conditions. Its operating temperature range is broad, from -25 to 70 °C without derating, and it can withstand relative humidity levels of 95% at 60 °C without condensation. Vibration and shock resistance are also robust, making the module a resilient choice for industrial settings with stringent performance demands.
In conclusion, the STBDDI3230 Standard Digital Input Module is a highly reliable and flexible component for digital signal processing in distributed I/O systems, distinguished by its protective features, operational resilience, and environmental endurance.
