The 400V drive, rated size 2, SP 2402 is manufactured by Control Techniques. It is a dual-rated drive module, working as either Normal duty or as heavy-duty depending on the setting on the motor rated current. The dual ratings are compatible with IEC60034 designed motors. These products are manufactured in United Kingdom and are designed for Metal production, paper processing, and material conveying usage. They come with a 2-year warranty from MRO Electric. We also carry AC Drives from other manufacturers such as Siemens and Yaskawa.
The Control Techniques SP 2402 Unidrive module works with applications that use Self ventilated induction motors and require a low overload capability. Full torque is not required at low speeds. An example of this is fans and pumps. The Self ventilated induction motor requires increased protection against overload. The increased protection is necessary due to the reduced cooling effect of the fan at low speed.
Heavy-duty use for the SP 2402 is for constant torque applications or applications which require a high overload capability, or full torque is required at low speed. This is seen with winders and hoists. The thermal protection is set to protect force ventilated induction motors. It is set to protect permanent magnet servo motors by default. Both are by default.
In normal duty mode, the SP 2402 possesses a maximum continuous output current rating of 21 A and a nominal power rating at 400V of 11 kW. The motor power at 460V is 15 hp. The Peak current is 23 A.
In heavy-duty, the Control Techniques SP 2402 has a maximum continuous output current of 16.5 A. It has a Closed-loop peak current of 28.8 A, and an Open-loop peak current rating of 24.7 A. Heavy-duty Nominal power at 400V is 7.5 kW and Motor power at 460V is 10 hp.
Typical input current 20.2 A
Maximum continuous input current 21.4 A
Fuse rating Class CC or J** 30A 25 A
Cable size UL508C Input 10 AWG Output 10 AWG
On a Size 2 SP 2402, the supply and motor ground connections are made using the grounding bridge that locates at the bottom of the drive.
The SP 2402 drive module supplies the heat sink fan internally.
The connecting of the DC bus between several drives is typically used for two different uses. First, connecting the DC bus between drives is used to return energy from a drive that is being overhauled by the load to a second motoring drive. It is also used to allow the use of one braking resistor to dissipate regenerative energy from several drives. There are, however, limitations to the combinations of drives that can be used in this configuration.
The Control Techniques SP 2402 drive is operated from low voltage DC supplies, nominally 24Vdc (control) and 48Vdc (power). The low voltage DC power operating mode is designed for a couple of uses. It is used to allow for motor operation in an emergency backup situation. This happens following the failure of the AC supply, for example in elevators. It is also used to limit the speed of a servo motor during the start-up of equipment. The working voltage range of the low voltage DC power supply is as follows:
Minimum continuous operating voltage: 36V
Minimum start-up voltage: 40V
Nominal continuous operating voltage: 48 to 72V
Maximum braking IGBT turn-on voltage: 95.4V
Maximum overvoltage trip threshold: 104.4V
A1: The SP 2402 is a 400V drive module, size 2, manufactured by Control Techniques.
A2: The SP 2402 is dual-rated, working as either normal duty or heavy duty based on the setting of the motor-rated current. It is compatible with IEC60034-designed motors.
A3: Normal duty is suitable for applications like fans and pumps, while heavy duty is ideal for constant torque applications such as winders and hoists.
A4: In normal duty, the SP 2402 has a maximum continuous output current of 21 A, nominal power at 400V of 11 kW, and a peak current of 23 A.
A5: In heavy-duty, the SP 2402 has a maximum continuous output current of 16.5 A, a closed-loop peak current of 28.8 A, and an open-loop peak current rating of 24.7 A. Nominal power at 400V is 7.5 kW, and motor power at 460V is 10 hp.
A6: The typical input current is 20.2 A, the maximum continuous input current is 21.4 A, the fuse rating is Class CC or J** 30A 25 A, and the cable size is 10 AWG for both input and output according to UL508C.
A7: The SP 2402 drive module supplies the heat sink fan internally.
A8: Yes, connecting the DC bus between drives is used for energy return and regenerative energy dissipation. There are limitations to the combinations of drives in this configuration.
A9: Yes, it can be operated from a low-voltage DC supply (24Vdc for control and 48Vdc for power). This mode is designed for emergency backup situations and limiting the speed of a servo motor during startup.
A10: The SP 2402 comes with a two-year warranty.
