The SP 1406 is a 3-phase size 1 AC variable speed drive product manufactured by Control Techniques for the Unidrive SP line of drives. The Control Techniques SP line is dual-rated for both heavy duty and normal duty. The motors designed to be compatible with IEC60034 are supported by the dual-rated SP drive. The SP 1406 is a 400 V AC panel mount drive.
The 400 V 3 Phase size 1 SP 1406 AC variable speed drive is dual-rated. The Normal Duty ratings for the SP 1406 differ from the Heavy-Duty ratings. For Normal Duty use the SP 1406 has a max continuous output current rating of 11 A and a nominal power rating of 5.5 kW at 400 V. The normal duty motor power rating of the SP 1406 is 7.5 hp at 460 V. The normal duty peak current rating for the SP 1406 variable speed drive is 12. A. The Heavy Duty max continuous output current rating is 9.5 A. The Heavy Duty open loop peak current rating is 14.2 A. The Heavy Duty closed loop peak current rating is 16.6 A. The Heavy Duty nominal power rating at 400 V is4.0 kW, and the motor power rating in Heavy duty mode is 5.0 hp at 460 V.
The typical input current for the SP 1406 is 12.6 A with the max continuous input current being 13.4 A. The fuse rating IEC gG is 16 A. The input for cable size EN60204 is 2.5 mm² and the output 1.5 mm².
The SP 1406 can be operated by 24Vdc (control) and 48Vdc (power) low-voltage DC supplies. This is helpful in two ways. One of how this is beneficial is that it helps to keep motor operation when there is an emergency backup situation when there has been an AC supply failure. Another way in which this is beneficial is that during start-up, or when the unit is commissioned, it can limit the speed of the servo motor. The following is the working voltage range available when the power supply is low voltage. Minimum continuous operating voltage: 36V Minimum start-up voltage: 40V Nominal continuous operating voltage: 48V Maximum braking IGBT turn-on voltage: 63.6V Maximum overvoltage trip threshold: 69.6V.
Several encoders are compatible with the Unidrive SP line of variable-speed drives.
The Control Techniques SP line of variable speed drives is designed to operate in several operating modes. The first is open loop mode which includes open loop vector mode, fixed V/F mode (V/Hz), and Quadratic V/F mode (V/Hz). The second operating mode that the SP 1406 can operate in is the RFC mode. The third operating mode is the closed loop vector. The fourth operating mode of the SP 1406 is Servo mode, and the final operating mode of the Control Techniques AC variable speed drive is 4 is Regen.
The Control Techniques SP1406 AC Drive controls the speed and torque of AC motors in various industrial applications.
The SP1406 is typically used with motors with an output power ranging from 5 HP (3.7 kW) to 7.5 HP (5.5 kW).
The SP1406 AC Drive's input voltage range is 380 to 480VAC, making it compatible with standard industrial power systems.
The SP1406 AC Drive has a frame size of 1, which determines its physical dimensions and compatibility with mounting arrangements.
The SP1406 AC Drive supports both normal-duty and heavy-duty applications, providing versatility for various industrial requirements.
The max continuous current for normal duty is 11 A, while for heavy-duty applications, it is 9.5 A. These ratings determine the drive's capability to handle load variations and continuous operation.
By precisely controlling the speed and torque of AC motors, the SP1406 AC Drive helps optimize energy usage and improve overall system efficiency. It ensures smooth motor operation while minimizing energy wastage.
The SP1406 AC Drive offers reliable performance, robust construction, and advanced motor control features. Its compact design and user-friendly interface make installing and operating in industrial environments easy.
The SP1406 AC Drive is versatile and can be used in various industries such as manufacturing, HVAC, water treatment, etc. It is suitable for applications requiring precise motor speed and torque control.
